ABOUT US
Discover a New California Wine Adventure
Located in southern Santa Clara Valley is Uvas Creek, with its headwaters beginning in Uvas Canyon and then flowing through the Uvas Valley on its way to the Pacific Ocean. There, you will find the marine layer and maritime breezes from the Pacific Ocean tend to give us cooler evenings and mornings, while still allowing uninterrupted sunshine for the balance of the day. Taking advantage of the fog, sunlight and the good earth below assures us of good fruit, which in turn is nurtured with loving care to become the high quality wine we have come to expect.
On occasion, we find good fruit in other areas such as the Northern area of Monterey County, the Santa Ynez Valley above Santa Barbara, as well as the Sierra foothills and Amador County. We use this fruit as either a stand alone wine or to blend with the wine produced from Uvas Valley grapes. Either way, the goal is to make an enjoyable and easily drinkable wine at a price that won’t empty your wallet.
One of the motives for embarking on this venture was the fact that one of our friends, who owns more than one vineyard, had 20,000 gallons of wine unsold going into the next harvest. Although the wine market has improved, at some point the wine must be moved out to accommodate the new crush. The final tipping point came when we were dining out at well-known steak house, and the forty-eight dollar bottle of wine was less than expected, to say the least. At that point, we KNEW we could provide a better product at one-fourth the price or lower. Our goal will continue to be to produce quality, drinkable wine at an affordable (everday) price.
